Those of you looking for a quick cardio-focused workout, this is your class! After our signature dynamic warm-up, the class moves into running intervals interspersed with cardio-strength drills designed to build muscle and burn fat during and after the work-out. We finish up with a short spurt tabada sequence, alternating exercises to give you one final cardio push.
Our class starts off with our signature dynamic warm-up, followed by long running intervals along the river, broken-up by strength and cardio drills, each designed to work key areas of the body that improve running performance and balance upper and lower body strength. Yoga-inspired running stretches wind-down each class and minimize injury risk. Classes will begin and end at the same starting point..

We developed this program for the NYC running community to address problems that frankly, most runners just don’t.
The class is 100% focused on running drills to help you run more efficient. You will be using resistance parachutes and bands to push you harder, bodyweight exercises, plyo-boxes and sandbags to get you stronger and balance boards and pads to keep you well balanced to name a few… If you want to become a better runner you don’t want to miss this! It’s a 55 minute station based workout!
Our goal with Run Drills is to help you run faster, stronger and injury free.So any runner whether
you’re a NYRR member, belong to a Run Club or you’re a treadmill runner at a studio or a gym you will benefit from our Run Drills classes.
The new RUN DRILLS + YOGA format combines an intense 40 minute cardio burst of running drills, followed by a 20 minute yoga format designed specifically for runners that infuses strength and flexibility exercises, which are critical for optimizing your body’s performance. Expert running coaching and yoga instruction are on-hand to ensure proper technique and inspiration throughout this combo class!
Our unique yoga program specifically for runners, cyclists and athletes to help you perform at your best. Whether you’re an average runner to elite runner or a competitive cyclist to a 3x a week soul cycle or flywheel fan we can help you perform at your best!

The main focus of our Fitness Runs Yoga program is improving flexibility in targeted areas in the body; hamstrings, hips, calves, IT bands, groins and shoulders which are the most common issues that runners, cyclists and athletes have.

FITNESS AND RUNNING PROGRAMS

This is for the beginner runner who wants to learn the fundamentals of proper running. We cover everything you need to become a more confident, faster and injury free runner. With this package you get Four Personal Training Sessions which will cover everything you need to become a stronger, faster and injury free runner.
The Package Includes:
Sessions 1: 90-Minute consultation includes video analysis, making a running program based on the analysis, shoe fitting, BMI testing all in your first session! Also learn about the key aspects of good running form, and how to implement them.
Session 2: Personalized Strength Training Workout: Strength, Balance, and Coordination are the key components on performing your best, being more efficient and most importantly running injury free.
Sessions 3: Stretching and Foam Rolling How-To. This segment of the program is great for runners looking to increase flexibility and improve recovery from your runs or workouts.  Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique that is used by athletes and physical therapists to inhibit overactive muscles. Think of it as a self massage that targets muscle fibers to release any tightness or knots in the body.
Sessions 4: One on One Yoga or Pilates session specific for runners (we look at your personal needs as well). The main focus will be on increasing flexibility; hamstrings, hips, calves, IT bands, groins and shoulders, which are the most common flexibility issues that runners have.

Personal Training For Runners

The very first session you get the “90-Min Evaluation w/ Video analysis” (value of $199) covering running form, stride techniques, proper pacing, strength training and stretching all specific to your personal needs! After the initial session your coach/trainer will give you a full program that he or she will follow along with you to help you reach your running goals.

Strength, Balance, and Coordination are the keys to performing at your best, being more efficient and most importantly running injury free. This can all be achieved with a proper strength and flexibility program.

Strength Training for Runners has many benefits especially for females: Upper body and core helps to minimize fatigue.  Any deviation away from proper form means you’re not being efficient and will lead to poor performance when running and eventually injury. Having a strong upper body and core reduces your risk of fatiguing thus keeping healthy and injury free.

Our strength training program for runners will helps protect your bones, which is very important especially for females. Stability, Core and Stretch Program

Stability & Core Training is for anyone! It reduces back pain, improves athletic performance and postural imbalances, which make you better in any thing you do from running, playing golf, to playing tennis etc.

The Stability & Core Training program consists of a wide variety of exercises including Swiss balls, medicine balls, rubber-bands and of course your very own body. We also use a technique called PNF stretching which is currently the fastest and most effective way known to increase static-passive flexibility. It is not really a type of stretching but is a technique of combining Passive Stretching and Isometric Stretching in order to achieve maximum static flexibility. – runtheplanet.com

ADVANCE STRETCHING TECHNIQUES

You probably know this already, but stretching is one of the most overlooked aspects of training. Everyone knows they should do it, but never seem to find the time for it.

What Is The Result of Not Stretching: Poor posture, risk of injury, poor athletic performance, and lack of stretching can take a devastating toll on your body over time.Integrated flexibility training applies a variety of stretching techniques including: self-myofascial release, static stretching, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, and Dynamic Stretching among others. We recommend doing this program at least once per week.  If you’re any type of athlete: Marathon runner, Triathlete, Tennis , Golf Player or any other sport that requires running, you will benefit greatly with this program.

Evaluation w/ Video Analysis (90min)

What’s Included In Your 90min Evaluation:
  • Body Measurements, body fat analysis and BMI Testing
  • One Mile Run Test on a track
  • Learn about the basics of good running form
  • Comprehensive video of your running stride and learn how to improve it.
  • Go through a series of strength, flexibility and proprioception tests.
  • Detailed recommendations on how to improve your running based on your evaluation
We use the slow motion and freeze frame of your video to find many of the subtle nuances of your gait pattern.  Correcting these little nuances will increase your performance and reduce your risk of injury. Some things we watch for is your gait, overall running posture, inadequate hip extension, excessive foot pronation, stride length and stride frequency and much more!

You also get a FREE follow up session after 3 weeks to see your progress based on our recommendations from your evaluation.

We welcome all fitness levels! Regardless of your current physical activity level, our expert instructors will monitor your ability at all times. The classes may be difficult and challenging, but the goal is to push you to your highest potential. The overall mission of FitnessRuns ™ is to help you become faster, stronger and run injury free! While we encourage all to participate, you must check with your healthcare provider if you’re injured or have any major illnesses. Again, our goal is to improve your overall health and wellness!

*The FITNESS RUNS
class is a little more advanced and is the only class that we actually run from one location to another (the average distance is about 3 to 4 miles). This class is for all levels, however we strongly recommend that you can run 2-3 miles non-stop and average at least a 10-12 minute mile pace. If you are concerned please contact us for more information on this class or any other class we offer.

We made FitnessRuns ™ affordable for all. Our classes are as low as $14 per class, depending on what package and duration of the class you choose. We created our program to serve as your primary fitness program, as well as to complement any existing program you currently follow (i.e. spinning, boot camp, yoga, barre, etc). Also by using Auto-Pay for your payments you can save an additional 10% off regular prices to save additional money.

Simple, bring a small water bottle and towel. WARNING: With colder weather we recommend bringing gloves and a hat since some drills will require you to have your hands on the ground. If you’re doing The FITNESS RUNS class we highly recommend that you only bring water, ID and cash with you (gloves and hat if it’s cold). We will be running from one location to another so there is no place to drop off your bag, coats, etc. With the Run + Drills and Run + Yoga classes you could bring some items with you since we stay in the same location but again we don’t recommend it.
*Coaches will not be responsible for lost or stolen items so again it’s best to bring as little as possible to your classes

This varies from person to person. For most people, we recommend that you eat a small meal or snack about an hour before class. This should be something light that is easily digestible of about 75-150 calories. It’s also important to be well hydrated before, during, and after any workout program so make sure your drinking water.

Fitness Runs the parent company of Run Drills support teams and all Running Clubs in NYC by offering team/group discounts to all our classes. Of course they are! Our goal is to make you a stronger, faster and injury free runner. The skills you learn from our classes can be applied right away to your own personal running regimen whether it’s on a treadmill or in Central Park. Also if you still feel like you need some extra help sign up for our One Day Workshop for Beginners. We also offer one on one coaching for new and seasoned runners as well.
We’ll be back at fastbreak next winter starting in October/November.

Running classes are year round. Unless it is severe weather such as snow and ice, rain storm, thunder or extreme heat; classes will go on. Please check your emails, our facebook and twitter pages for all the latest updates on any changes or cancellations due to severe weather. A group text or email message will also be sent if we decide to cancel a class.
